Bureau members serve for two years. In 2002, in order to improve its work and ensure continuity, the Commission decided to hold the first meeting of its subsequent session, immediately following the closure of the regular session, for the sole purpose of electing the new Chairperson and other members of the Bureau (ECOSOC decision 2002/234).

The Bureau for the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (2023) comprises the following members:

  • H.E. Ms. Mathu Joyini (South Africa), Chair (African States Group)

  • Ms. Pilar Eugenio (Argentina), Vice-Chair (Latin American and Caribbean States Group)

  • H.E. Ms. Antje Leendertse (Germany), Vice-Chair (Western European and Other States Group)

  • Mr. Māris Burbergs (Latvia), Vice-Chair (Eastern European States Group)

  • Vice-Chair for the Asia and Pacific States Group: to be nominated

Session Outcomes

The outcome of the Commission’s consideration of the priority theme during its 67th session will take the form of agreed conclusions, to be negotiated by all Member States.

More information regarding the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (2023) to be uploaded as available in due time.

Engage with and make CEDAW submissions to PWWNZ

In 2022 Aotearoa NZ government will be presenting its 9th CEDAW report to the UN CEDAW committee for review.

As an important part of our role and to promote gender justice for all, PWW-NZ will be presenting an alternative NGO report. To inform this report we are seeking feedback from people and organisations who are involved in and care about women’s and girl’s rights. We want to hear from all, be it in health, education, employment, violence, law or any other gender justice issue, and including challenges faced by disabled women and girls, migrant women and those from our LGBTQI whānau.

We are very mindful that the current pandemic is having a disproportionately negative effect on women and girls and while this will inform much of the reporting, we must ensure that these and all issues are heard on the international stage and addressed by our government.

Our PWW-NZ alternative report ensures that all voices are heard at the highest levels nationally and internationally. We produce this report to bring together a clear case for accountability and change.

Register now and you will be sent a Google Meet link for the webinar evening
